

When James, his twin brother, is killed in battle, David takes his brother's name in exchange for the prosperity of his mother's farm. From an internal story chronology we first encounter him when he meets Anna of Arendelle, whom he tells he is a friend of Kristof, and we find him being terrorized by the evil Little Bo Peep. In the Enchanted Forest, David was originally a poor shepherd whose twin brother James was given to King George as an heir in a deal with Rumplestiltskin. He has an epic, epic love for Snow White. He's a Prince, but he's a Prince of the people. He's still a man with the same emotions as any other man. On what makes his portrayal of Prince Charming different from those before, Dallas explained that "Prince Charming just happens to be a name. Although Regina initially is hesitant to marry the King, she and Leopold's bond begins to grow after their wedding, and they gradually start to love one another.

When Snow is rescued from her wayward steed one day by Cora's daughter Regina, King Leopold thanks her for saving his daughter and requests Regina's hand in marriage.

Leopold searches for a new wife to be Queen, as well as become Snow's stepmother. Years later, Eva eventually succumbs to an illness and dies. Together, Leopold and Eva have a daughter whom they name Snow. Cora is cast out, while Leopold goes ahead and marries Eva. However, Leopold eventually learns that Cora is in fact a fraud, and is not a noble. As a prince, Leopold is betrothed to Princess Eva, although he eventually falls in love with a noblewoman by the name of Cora.
